In which needlecream attempts to decorate.

So, as some of you know I am trying to improve my home decorating/building skills. I decided to build a home from scratch the other day and I took lots and lots of pictures. But, upon looking at them, I only found these that were perhaps worth sharing. The rest I am just too ashamed of.. I have a lot of improving to do.

Kitchen:

Upstairs hall:

Bedrooms:

I need to find recolors of that cabinet, I really like it but this color is a little too red for this room. I also would really like recolors of that bed from apartment life, the one that folds into the wall?

Two polar opposite bedrooms.

I had more pictures of the kitchen and the exterior, but I need to re-do those areas because they aren't good enough yet.

Also, I'm working on these shorts, I'd appreciate any feedback because I'm kind of stuck on them.

Oh it isn't that bad you know, what I find helps me a lot is cluttering and plants. But mostly my houses end up over clutterd. As for the kitchen, maybe a window or two wouldn't hurt ;)

There are actually 2 windows in that kitchen, they are just cropped out in the "bad side" that I didn't preview, where the eating area was.

I really like the living room and that bedroom with the cabinet! :) Main tip from me would be to use plants, I always find that plants make my rooms pop. As well as candles with nice warm light. As for the pictures I really like the angle you've got on the bedroom, the cropping is nice too. :) You're doing great!

That's my favorite bedroom, too. There is also a plush bunny there but you can just barely see his foot.

hafiseazale has recolors of the AL Murphy bed (plus just about every other piece of Maxis furniture!!) in iCad's wood and/or Anna's colors here.

I think the decorating looks great. I like how each room has its own color palette. :)

I love the living room and that little hallway! The only thing that looks odd to me is that the wall of the second bedroom is tiled? The colours are great, but the texture seems a little odd next to the luxurious wallpaper in the next room over. Other than that, I think these pictures are really pretty! ^-^ (And maybe another end table or shelf in that empty bedroom corner?)

Thanks for the tips! Yeah, I was having a hard time with that room anyway and it doesn't fit with the rest of the house.. at all. I think I'll scrap it and start it over.

As for the shorts (which are freaking adorable, btw), I think that a darker or more sheer tights would look pretty nice. Other than that, I'm very excited to see the finished shorts. ;D

My best decorating always happens when I decorate with a specific family/sim in mind. Because I always have a color pallette in mind for my sims, and I try to decorate to reflect their personality/interests.

Honestly though, I'm pretty bad at decorating. Usually because by the time I get to decorating I'm bored with it and I just want to put my family in the house and start playing.

Also, could I ask where you got the cute little line of colored cubes hanging in the blue bedroom?

I usually do that, too, but for practicing purposes I'm just building random houses.

It looks lovely! I especially like the kitchen, white and brown make such a nice colour combination! If I were you, I'd just add some clutters (something like a radiator, or decorative boxes) and plants in the living room. :)

I think your decorating is quite lovely. I'm glad when you share shots from your game. I haven't done any playing in forever and it's really bumming me out but it just seems like I never get around to it.

What cute rooms! I think if you like smaller houses/rooms (I do too) it's just harder to take good photos. The decorating is more than fine, it's fabulous :D

I really like the little office area - the pink and grey are a good combination. The orange chair looks a little lost on its own though, so if it were me I might include something else in the same shade - maybe a plant in a terracotta pot, on the floor next to the desk, or some other deco item?

The chair is supposed to match with the orange on the curtain, but you are right maybe a more subtle orange or an additional colored piece would help.
