Hello all,
I have been getting lots of spammy comments for a while, but especially in the past few weeks. I've had it set to show a Captcha to all non-friends and to screen comments from all non-friends, but that hasn't been enough so I'm going to try allowing only comments from registered users and to show captchas to everyone. If this does not fix the problem, I will just put things back the way they were. (what's the point of making you guys do a captcha if it isn't stopping the spam anyway?)

Sorry to hear about that annoyance! I had only known them to show up on communities, not journals as well. That sucks, I hope it stops for you.

Thank you for the concern! I am fine, the spam is not very personal stuff and is usually just "nasty in general" or full of weird characters.

Having a lot of spam is really annoying, yeah. It seems like there's some sort of spam attack, as I normally rarely have spam and I now got five spam comments in less than twelve hours. I hope captcha's + registered users only works out for you!

It happens especially after I post something, but then the spam comments are comments on random entries of mine and not just the new ones.

I've started to get tons of spam-comments all over my journal lately, so I feel your pain! I hope your actions against it stops the spammers from posting on your LJ :)

So far it does seem to be working, so if you want to try using the same settings maybe that can help you, too.

I've had that happen a while back but in a community, never in a personal journal. That's so weird. Hopefully it stops for you soon :)
