Look at that! A whole set of skins that actually match. I intended to make these to use for myself as default replacements, but I'm not really in the mood to make the defaults just yet, so I'm releasing the custom versions and the town/gen versions here, right now!

I'll be starting college next week, so I won't have as much time to make sims CC or to play the game as I have this summer,
but who knows? Maybe I won't be as busy as I'm expecting.

Credits:
These skins are on an anva base, and I think I blended some other skins onto the bodies but I can't remember for sure. the face is a mix of anva, ephemera, paryun, clover, and some misc asian creator.
This is my first shot at making dark skintones from scratch, so if you have any comments on that I'd be happy to accept some constructive criticism.

edit: I think I'll re-do the darker shades and upload them in seperate set later, because I'm not really happy with them, but these will remain here..

My favorite part of these skins is the lips.. they're a blend of 3 different lipsticks and I think they came out the best.
The first four skins are very smooth in game, but the last four seem to be a bit pixelated in the face, no matter what I did. Especially the last tone, which I only included because then I'd be able to make a nice even preview with 2 rows of four...

onto the previews!
(Models are not wearing any make-up.. or clothing. Naughty bits are censored |{there are naughty bits on the females, and the males have nipples} and the uncensored images are included with the downloads.)

(Edit 11/12/2017: modified this post along with other skin posts to add what previews I had after imageshack dropped them. Also note that for most of my older skins I didn't know how to make darker skins properly and the skin shading looks flat and off.)

Please (don't) stop torturing my downloads folder!!!
I've been so busy with schoolwork, but I couldn't resist to sneak some downloading CC time in when I saw this update XD

How did you blend the lips, by the way? I want to learn how to modify lips on skintones. Any tips are appreciated ;)

Also, thanks for making an only-custom version. *hugs*

And the best of luck with college.

Thank you so much. Was it you who requested custom versions of my natural enayla edits? I really am working on those, it's just a large set and I'm really cramming in studying for my driver's permit test. I'm sorry, I will have them up soon.

I blend the lips by extracting the lip textures in bodyshop, then opening them up and the facefile I want to edit in my photo editing program (you can do all this in most programs, but of course photoshop is probably best, though I use my other program) select the lips using your elliptical marquee and feather the selection, then paste it onto your face file. You can create unique combinations by pasting different lips on top of each other and adjusting the opacity of the different layers, and erasing different parts of lips on top to show the textures of lips underneath. For example, I used a more chapped lip underneath a more glossy lip for this particular set, and I erased parts of the glossy lip around the edges to show off the chapped bits better.
If this is all too confusing, I can write up a proper tutorial for you with pictures?

Thank you so much for commenting! Good luck with all of your schoolwork, too! And I promise to do a custom version for all of my skins from now on.

Hmm, which type of photoshop do you have? I have photoshop abode elements 5.0, and I'm not sure I can find the equivalent of the "feather" option. (I am a complete novice at photoshopping so it takes me awhile to figure out where all the options are. I don't even think there's a warp tool!!)

A tutorial would be nice, but only if you have time, of course.

It's not a brush, its'a a way to modify the selection. I believe there is a tab at the top (you know how there is a tab for layers?) and there's one that has to do with modifying your selection, and once you click "modify selection" You'll have options to feather and all sorts of things (but feather is really the most useful) You should have that option, I believe my photoshop is 3.0, so yours would be even more advanced than mine.

I'll try to work up a quick tutorial for you once I have more free time, but it might have to wait a little, is that okay?

I think they're gorgeous, a little pixellated maybe, but not enough to detract from the pretty. If it really bothers you, you could try adding a noise filter? I've heard that helps. I'm still nabbing them all, because they're gorgeous! Congradulations on your first set. :)

Thank you so much! :'D
I tried a noise filter but it still didn't help the actual images after I imported them via simPE. The files that the skins are reading from are perfectly smooth, so why they look pixelated is really a mystery to me. I hope you enjoy them, though, and don't worry if you have to delete any of the darker shades due to the pixelation.

HI NC:
I'll check them out today. Your Tan and ethnic colors look very warm and hot. Men will do good with 6-pack abs as in ephemera's skintone, but to be honest your guys look pretty hot "fans self". Good Job. Have a great day!!! Thanks for the goodies.
Luv,
Amber

Thank you for the feedback! I hope you enjoy them, and as I keep saying the darker skins are a bit pixelated and have some coloring issues, so delete them if you'd like.

The first skintones are very well done, but the darker ones seem a bit... washed out. The highlights on them are blueish/greenish, which I think is a bit strange. Did you make the darker skintones by using brightness/contrast? I think that causes the colors to be a bit wonky.

Date: August 29th, 2009 12:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] needlecream.livejournal.com
I made them using the different color sliders on an adjustment layer in photoshop, so it shouldn't have done that but yes, you are right. I'm going to make another set of dark skintones to replace the ones in this set, and hopefully fix that Issue, I think I may have an idea of why that happened.
Thank you for the feedback, it's greatly appreciated.

Its probably your monitor settings - I can't see the green/blue myself, and neither can a friend of mine who also downloaded this set. I'm on a laptop and she is on a desktop, but perhaps that makes a difference also.

HI HUN:
First of all I wish to say that I enjoyed your work thoroughly. Your color selection was great, however, there was one small mistake with the adult male scalp, wherein all of them have a different scalp instead of their own, I say that because all the other ages like teen male, elder male work fine. The female section has no problem. Your Alien blend looks awesome in game (that doesn't seem to have any problem with adult male scalp). Please don't take this in the wrong sense, am I not your friend? Thanks and best wishes for your college.

Please check this out, it has the scalp of teen and adult male http://www.mediafire.com/file/jtizmjyrzk5/PLS-C.zip

Luv,
Amber.

Wow! That's awful, I'm so sorry, I don't have any problems like that in my game. Maybe try changing the color of the hair? Sometimes that fixes the issue. Are you having the same problem in-game or only in CAS?
I don't know if you're familiar with skin blending, but I don't know what the issue could be because in each package there is only one hair alpha (which is the "scalp" of the head), and all of the ages use the same one, so I don't understand why this is happening to the adult males but not the other ages. I will check this out later, and again, I am very sorry.
Thank you for letting me know!

Oh, these are beautiful! And now that I understand how these custom skins work in game (heh) I am super excited to add more. I squee a little bit each time a townie generates or a baby is born with such beautiful skin. My most recent one was born with very pale skin and black hair. I can't tell you how much I love this look. :)

NC, I just realized I had totally forgotten to put these in my game, they were still in a folder on my desktop. So I checked them out in bodyshop, and I'm having the scalp problem too. The scalps all have a (very) different colour from the rest. At first I thought it was something conflicting, but even with just these skins in my downloads folder, the problem remains the same. Do you happen to have any idea what to do about this? I really really want to use these skins!

Date: October 11th, 2009 07:04 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] eefje00704.livejournal.com
Oh and it's just the adult male scalps, but with all the skin colours, including the alien.

From: [identity profile] needlecream.livejournal.com
Have you tried them in-game?
As I said, it really doesn't make sense because the scalp is the same for all ages and genders, and I myself don't have any problems.

Date: October 11th, 2009 08:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] needlecream.livejournal.com
And I don't mean CAS, I mean in the game. I have problems like that with some skin blends in bodyshop and CAS, but not in-game.

From: [identity profile] eefje00704.livejournal.com
Ok, I made a sim with one of those skins today, the scalp problem was the same in CAS. I put him in a lot, his scalp was still wonky. BUT when I changed his hair with the mirror, his scalp changed to normal. Sooo problem solved, I guess? It's still pretty weird though, about the scalps I mean.

OK, I clicked the custom version and it took me to mediafire. It told me it was starting, but it didn't! After a minute or two, Firefox reset my connection. Could you upload this to a mirror?

I tried it myself and it works fine. Sometimes mediafire can be a little tricky, but just try again and it should work.

This happens when I use your skintone in CAS http://i557.photobucket.com/albums/ss17/XxRoses_LoverXx/Screenshot-8.jpg
This only happens on the males. Help please?

Date: January 23rd, 2010 12:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] needlecream.livejournal.com
I have never seen that before! to be honest, I don't even have these skins in my game (only the alien and palest skin), and I don't really know what is going on in that picture. A lot of skins tend to have a scalp problem with the males in CAS or even in bodyshop, but then it's okay in game. That's my best answer, I'm sorry. I really don't know how to fix it.

I'm amazed you like them! I've had a lot of complaints about the darker tones. there are no defaults of these, unfortunately, and I can't make them for you myself because I don't have the files I need. I'm sorry.
Thank you so much for the comment!
I might be able to make defaults for you in a week or so, but at the moment I've lost all of my files and programs and I'm trying to get everything back. Just send me a PM to remind me. :]
